    Adjust rack to middle position and preheat oven to 425 degrees. Melt butter and coat a 9x9 baking dish .

    In a large bowl , whisk eggs , milk , brown sugar , sugar , cinnamon , salt , and black pepper until smooth.

    Cut brioche buns into quarters. Dip half the pieces into the egg mixture and arrange in a single layer in the prepared dish. Evenly dollop berry compote on top. Add remaining bun pieces and pour remaining egg mixture over everything.
